De Marco penalised ahead of Race 1

Nicola de Marco has received a 5-place grid drop ahead of Barcelona's first race of the weekend on Saturday. The Italian, who had qualified third, will therefore start eighth at the Circuit de Catalunya.

With de Marco going on to achieve the fourth grid spot as his second race qualifying place, this now turns out to be his best of the weekend after receiving the penalty before Race 1.

Stewards ruled that his best lap of Friday's qualifying period was set under yellow flag conditions following Petro Gandolfi's spin. With the stewards having consulted the telemetry data, which revealed that de Marco did indeed not lift off, he was duly handed the penalty.
