After finishing fourth in morning practice, championship leader Andy Soucek moved to the top of the timesheets on his afternoon run at Oschersleben. The Spaniard set the best lap time to edge out Canada's Robert Wickens by just 26 thousandths of a second as Frenchman Julien Jousse completed the top three.
With the second 30-minute session commencing at shortly after midday, Soucek's eventual best time of 1:20.900, up on the morning pace by almost one and a half seconds, was set relatively early on. With a narrow margin back to Wickens, the Canadian's gap back to third placed Jousse was just under one and a half tenths.

Edoardo Piscopo was 'best of the rest', having spent more time on the tarmac than this morning, and Tobias Hegewald is also well-placed in fifth; Piscopo was quickest in the first part of the lap, however, setting the best time in Sector 1. Just outside the top five was Miloš Pavlovic, who posted his best time in the last knockings to move ahead of Philipp Eng.
Armaan Ebrahim set the penultimate time in 24th place although the Indian endured a spin into the Turn 9 gravel on the way. Also in the wars was British rookie Ollie Hancock who, shortly after setting his time for 22nd spot, came together with the barriers. Jason Moore once again led the way for Britain, this time in 11th place, with Jolyon Palmer, Jack Clark, Alex Brundle and Tom Gladdis in 17th, 18th, 20th and 23rd positions respectively.
Qualifying in Germany beings at 5pm local time (BST +1 / GMT +2) and will also last for half an hour.
