Championship leader Andy Soucek comfortably achieved pole position on Friday for Oschersleben's first race of the weekend on Saturday although the well-placed Spaniard is confident that his lap of Oschersleben was not his best possible effort.
Having registered a time of 1:20.402 to clinch the top spot by over a large three tenths of a second, Soucek explained the situation. "I had a very good second flying lap on the new tyres, which could have been even faster, but I hit a yellow and it spoilt the lap," he commented.
With such pace, is the 2009 Formula Two title win now more a case of 'when' rather than 'if' for Andy? "It's not easy - the level of competition is increasing every race," he replied. "I think since Spa I have found a very good setup and the car is behaving incredibly well - I have a lot of confidence, so I'm in good shape."
