Jousse confident of matching Soucek
14 August 2009Julien Jousse believes he stands with a genuine chance of achieving the same pace and possibly beating championship leader Andy Soucek in Donington Park's rounds of the championship this weekend. With the break of almost a month coming to an end in Leicestershire, recent test results have boosted the Frenchman's confidence.

| Julien hopes for at least podium finishes at Donington Park |
Drivers were given almost four hours of testing time at Donington on Tuesday as an extended warm-up for this weekend's races as well as the first session since Brands Hatch in mid-July. With Soucek still the man to beat, Jousse finished half a second down in third spot.
"We have waited a long time for a full test," he said ahead of Rounds 9 and 10 of 16. "It was a very good day and now I am looking forward to the weekend. For sure, Andy was impressive on the new tyres, but I think we were very evenly matched up to that point on the old tyres; we will see how things go during qualifying on Saturday but I know it is a big weekend for the championship."

Currently placed sixth in the standings and 21 points behind the leader, Julien admits that points have been unnecessarily lost at times this year: "I was quick at Brands but I made too many mistakes during qualifying. I crashed in the first race and then I had to start the second race from 16th on the grid. Even if you are fast, a mistake in qualifying can mean the end of your weekend in terms of trying to score points.
"I feel very good here at Donington. I am feeling very comfortable in the car and I am really confident ahead of this weekend; of course, if Soucek keeps winning races then it will be difficult but hopefully I can still challenge for this championship - it is definitely not finished!"
