Soucek claims maiden pole at Brands Hatch

18 July 2009 / Results

Andy Soucek took pole position for race two this morning at Brands Hatch, after another thoroughly entertaining qualifying session. Canadian Robert Wickens claimed second position, with Sebastian Hohenthal setting the third fastest time. Philipp Eng, who took pole yesterday for race one, managed fourth in today's session.

"Everything went very well, it's looking good", said Soucek. "It's the first time I've driven here and it was a fantastic experience. I thought Spa-Francorchamps was good but Brands Hatch is even better!"

Hohenthal, who received a 5 place penalty in yesterday's qualifying session for ignoring the track limits, repeated his indiscretion today and will likely face further penalties after receiving another black flag.

Natacha Gachnang achieved her best result of the season, qualifying ninth.
