Piscopo moves ahead in Practice 2

Italy's Edoardo Piscopo recorded the best time in the second practice session of the day in Kent by lapping the fastest at the Brands Hatch circuit. The 21-year-old topped the timesheets from leading Brit Henry Surtees as Julien Jousse made the top three again ahead of qualifying for Saturday's Race 1 later today.

The circuit was damp at the beginning of the session following a brief sprinkling of rain, but the times soon began to tumble as the circuit dried and Alex Brundle set the early pace, just as he did in the morning's free practice.

Andy Soucek quickly set an early benchmark of 1.19.177, which he bettered again on the next lap by three tenths of a second. Julien Jousse then took his turn at the top, going quickest with a 1.18.551. He held that advantage for nearly ten minutes, before Italian Edoardo Piscopo leapt to the top of the timesheets with a 1.18.320 and stayed there until the end of the 30 minute session.

The times were extraordinarily close, with one second covering the top 13 drivers. Henry Surtees was the top Briton, taking an excellent 2nd position, with Julien Jousse finishing 3rd and Sebastian Hohenthal showing much-improved speed in 4th. Robert Wickens was fifth, with this morning's pace-setter Mikhail Aleshin in 6th.
