Höing back on F2 grid

Höing back on F2 grid

16 May 2009

Following an unexpected turnaround of events, Jens Höing will be rejoining the Formula Two championship after seemingly being out of contention for the start of the season in Valencia on 31 May. The German, who had dropped out of the running to make the grid as a result of contractual issues, has now resolved the situation.

Due to Höing's return to car number 20, replacement Edoardo Piscopo is now transferred to cockpit 16; this means that the returning F2, despite being planned to consist of 20 cars, now has 25 prepared to race.

"This is my best chance to reach the top of professional motorsport," said Berliner Höing, who is likely to be in the series for both 2009 and 2010. "My aim is to score podiums this year before challenging for the title next season - I want to win the F2 championship in 2010. I am extremely grateful to my sponsor and my new management team who have made this drive in F2 possible."

The 22 year-old's racing career began in karts in 2002 before progressing through Formula BMW - including a stint with Team Rosberg in 2005 - and the ATS Formel 3 Cup last year. The learning curve remains steep for Jens, however, with a lack of podium finishes, pole positions or fastest laps in any Formula contested to date.
